| i am very possessive. selfish, even. it bothers me when someone else uses my computer. or when their inconvenience becomes mine. the smallest disturbance can send me reeling for days... is this what i've allowed myself to be reduced to? a reaching, materialistic animal, who if she sees her name on anything, you must rip it from her grip? a person so self-involved that to tear her away from her own thing is to steal a lifeline? a person so bent on satisfying self, that all else fades into obscurity? i pray not. Sharing for the sake of sharing isn't sharing. It's tolerance. It's only when you place someone else's needs, wants, desires above your own that it becomes sharing, giving. when will you learn, o selfish mind, it's not about you. not even a little. it's about God, and it's about the body of Christ, of which i make a miniscule part. i am nothing without You, Savior! | | |
| This is a science fiction novel parallelling the thoughts and motives of man, generally, and Americans, specifically. It demonstrates that the reckless pursuit of happiness at all costs ultimately leads to destruction. Life requires balance; if one interest rises too far above the rest, unfavorable consequences follow. It wasn't the greatest book, not Christian by any stretch; but I think it acheived its objective. | | |
| Skin was pretty much a great book. Mind-bending, to say the least. You should definitely read it, and everything else by Ted Dekker. He's amazing. So, the Jericho Walk was Saturday, as most of y'all know. I don't know, I just feel like as a collective group, we really accomplished something. Not that I'm surprised, prayer is a Christian's most powerful weapon, but it's just a feeling like, "We came, we saw, we conquered." I don't see it (yet), but I know we impacted heaven, not just earth. Maybe it didn't feel like we were making much progress in our smaller groups, but as a whole, we did. And it's the same with the universal church: maybe in your little corner of the world you feel like you're not getting anywhere, but the body of Christ is making an impact. Be sure of it. And the burden of the world isn't on you, anyway, so relax and just obey God. Don't worry about how, or the fact that you can't see any headway. He's simply called us to obey, not to figure it all out. So take courage: when you obey God, eternity is affected. | | |
| once you dismiss Biblical Christianity, it is amazing what the human mind will concoct and believe. as long as it's not the light, those who are in the dark will accept it. "And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. Jn 3:19 at the mention of the Light, however, they grow hostile. "For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. Jn3:20 the Word is made flesh everyday, all around us. the Word is alive and illustrated even by those who refuse its message. the truth of Bibllical Christianity is evident everywhere, even to those who refuse to believe it. "For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood bt the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, because although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. This was made abundantly clear while my family was here for my graduation. Once you dismiss the truth of the Scriptures-and thereby any standard and/or responsibility- anything and everything goes. Without a holy, unchanging God, there can be no absolutes; nothing is good or bad, everything just is. | | |
